A Nefarious Tale is a book series written by

Melita Philbrooks. 

It is set in an alternate universe where magic is well known and openly used and is very much a part of everyday life for almost anyone. 

The world was created by the author of the book and her partner/editor Kenny Brown as a safe space for the two when there were some pretty big hardships in their lives.
