A Nefarious Tale
Vampires
General Information:
Vampires are some of the first species to be documented, due to how long ago they surfaced there is little about thier origins. Some believe evil and vile magic created them, others believe it was simply people evolving to survive thanks to the growing presence of magic.
As you would expect Vampires are nocturnal creatures with paler skin and fangs. They also hold heightened senses, inhuman levels of strength and speed as well as a hunger for blood. Unlike in hollywood movies however it does not have to be human blood, though that works best due to their natural lack of being able to circulate their own blood supplies as well as make more.
When 'feeding' sometimes a vampire can accidentally 'hypnotise' whoever they are feeding off of. When this happens they can project their positive feelings, emotions or thoughts onto them, or unlock/awaken suppressed feelings, thoughts and emotions.
Vampire Hierarchy:
There are four main types people refer to. Pure Blood, Half Blood, Mutts and Turnlings.
Pure Bloods are Vampires with long vampiric bloodlines. 80-90% of their bloodline must have vampiric blood in it to be considered a Pure Blood family. Those of which that do hold such strong lineage experience a stronger connection to their vampire form as well as being able to control it more freely.
Half Bloods are those with at least one vampiric parent or family member, most have a few within the family and like pure bloods they are born a vampire. Their connection to their vampire side is weaker, though they can change into it willingly it takes more effort and can take a toll on them physically and mentally afterwards.
Mutts are deemed by the vampire community to be the lowest ranking bloodline and many are looked down upon because of their abilities and how they have come to be. Unlike with pure and half bloods they are not born vampires but are instead turned into them. Their connection to their vampire side is limited. They can only connect to it when they experience heightened emotions or come into contact with blood. They do however still possess the same kinds of senses and strength pure and half bloods have.
Turnlings, like their name would suggest are humans who have been turned by a vampire however the transformation is not fully complete. This can happen on purpose by those looking to control someone with vampiric powers, or when a Mutt is turning someone themselves (this will result in the recipient experiencing the effects for no more than 5 days before they are fully turned). If the effects are intentional the person experiencing them will still hold control over their bodies but will not be able to resist an order from their 'master' and will feel a strong need to follow said order even if it goes against their wishes and morals.
Vampire Form:
A vampires true form normally is only used when necessary due to the strain it puts on the individual. Their pupils will dialate and the whites of their eyes will darken until black, leaving no colour within the eyes. Their fangs will involenterally descend and be twice the length they are normally.
Due to the strain that is put on a vampire's body whenever going into their vampire form they will experience something that is refered to as Vampiric Shedding. This happens around four times a year, normally when seasons change. They will experience mass amounts of fatigue as well as muscle and joint pains and their fangs will fall out and be replaced with a fresh pair that are normally the same size as the last. This part is normally the most painful and can take the longest. Of course these experiences differ for each vampire, however everyone, no matter the kind, will go through it. While experiencing all of this their natural hunger is also heightened to the point of it being almost unbearable or impossible to ignore their need for human blood, which normally is the only type that can alleviate some of the pain they are experiencing.
